It’s A Girls World Inc. Celebrates Five Years!

It’s A Girls World Inc. (GW) celebrated its fifth anniversary in the summer of 2021 by showcasing students’ STEM projects.

GW graduated its first class with seniors Amanda Khoury and Callie Wood.  Both girls attended Pennsville Memorial High School (Class of 2022).  After graduating, Callie will study Chemical Engineering, and Amanda will pursue Biomedical Research in college.

Girls World also celebrated with all of its students completing a two-week camp at Salem Community College.  Parents, sponsors, board members, and mentors attended a celebratory luncheon followed by an engineering showcase:

  • The Interns (8th and 9th graders) presented a project on designing earthquake-resistant buildings.
  • The Engineers (11th grade) presented their award-winning project on improving the cleanliness of airplane cabins for which they are developing a full-scale prototype.
  • The Peer Mentors (12th grade) talked about their journey through the program for the last five years.

The program continues during the school year with the Interns and Peer Mentors working on community service projects and participating in Destination Imagination Challenges. The Engineers will continue their work on their internationally recognized prototype including seeking funding to build and patent it.  All students will participate in quarterly mentor meetings starting in September – both in person and virtual.
