SJR FIRST Tech Challenge - FTC
This student application is to collect your interest in joining the South Jersey Robotics (SJR) FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. There is a limit of 15 students per team, and our team locations may vary depending on coach volunteers. SJR is committed to organizing as many teams as needed to promote science and technology in South Jersey. The FTC program will officially begin the last week of August, however, most teams usually start meeting in September. Each season concludes with regional championship events and an exciting FIRST Championship in March. These events are held throughout various locations in the tri-state area.
FTC is challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team. Teams design and build robots, raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach to earn specific awards in FIRST. Most excitingly, FTC participants are eligible to apply for college scholarships thru FIRST.
