Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers make up 100% of the South Jersey Robotics workforce. If you’re interested in becoming a coach, mentoring a team, serving on a committee, or helping out at one of our many events, we have a volunteer position for you. We have both technical and nontechnical positions available, and we’re always looking for people to help support the youth of South Jersey and our mission of promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) through the creation of a sustainable, robust robotics program in Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties in NJ and beyond.
Mentors and Coaches
Mentors and Coaches work directly with students and contribute in a vital way to the success of each FIRST team. They share both their technical and nontechnical expertise with the team and provide opportunities for students to learn through hands-on experience.
Coaching: FIRST LEGO League Jr. and FIRST LEGO League
Mentoring: FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition
Committee Membership and Organizational Support
In addition to our FIRST teams, SJR supports the It’s a Girl’s World program and participates in other outreach efforts in South Jersey. Volunteer opportunities are available on our board committees which provide organizational support to SJR and its programs.
Finance:
Committee members will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and submitting financial reports to the Board of Directors, as well as supporting teams and programs in the development of their budgets.
Committee Chair: Zorayda Klyne
Development and Outreach:
Committee members will spread information about South Jersey Robotics, its programs, and the youth served through traditional and new media. They will also support development and fundraising initiatives for SJR as a whole and the programs/teams.
Committee Chair: Kathy Simpkins
