Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers make up 100% of the South Jersey Robotics workforce. If you’re interested in becoming a coach, mentoring a team, serving on a committee, or helping out at one of our many events, we have a volunteer position for you. We have both technical and nontechnical positions available, and we’re always looking for people to help support the youth of South Jersey and our mission of promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) through the creation of a sustainable, robust robotics program in Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties in NJ and beyond.

Program Volunteers

We have a wide range of volunteer roles available. Some roles involve helping with a one day event, some involve working with youth on a regular basis, and some involve helping us to train and manage our adult volunteers.  Volunteer program managers work with adult facilitators to train and support volunteers in Girls World, and those coaching or mentoring robotics teams. All contribute to the success of our programs by sharing both nontechnical and technical expertise to expose youth to career paths, and by helping us to provide opportunities for youth to learn through hands-on experiences.

Board, Committee, and Advisory Support

In an effort to develop STEM leaders SJR supports many initiatives in South Jersey, and continually seeks to seat a diverse representation of volunteers on the Board of Directors, on committees and subcommittees, and on our community advisory board to provide organizational support for SJR and its programs.

Finance:

Committee members will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and submitting financial reports to the Board of Directors, as well as supporting teams and programs in the development of their budgets.

Committee Chair: Laura Lomanno

Development and Outreach:

Committee members will spread information about South Jersey Robotics, its programs, and the youth served through traditional and new media. They may also support development and fundraising initiatives for SJR and the programs/teams through initiatives like the annual STEAMFest and Robot Run (Nov), the annual SJR Recognition Event (April), Competitive Events, and Annual Registration Day (May).

Committee Chair: Kathy Simpkins

If you’re looking to be part of a South Jersey Robotics team or provide organizational support through committee membership, please email info@sjrobotics.com.
