FIRST® Tech Challenge New Jersey and South Jersey Robotics Partner for Autumn Outreach Scrimmage

On Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, robots will be running around the Cumberland County College gymnasium during the Autumn Outreach Scrimmage.  This all-day robotics event is being held to show new and prospective FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) students what it’s like to be part of a robotics competition.
Veteran teams will come to demonstrate what it’s like being in an FTC competition. They will also explain last year’s game and describe how they designed their robot to play the game. Then new and prospective students will be organized into teams for the day to try competing.  The “day teams” will be loaned a training robot and paired with a veteran team to compete as an alliance in the afternoon scrimmages.
Come find out how much fun robotics can be! Register for this event at:  http://cccnj.edu/firsttechchallenge

It’s Way More Than Building Robots.

FIRST Tech Challenge teams (10+ members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to play a floor game in an alliance format.

It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams (10+ members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to play a floor game in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!” Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be programmed using a variety of languages. Teams also must raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. Participants have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships. Each season concludes with regional Championships and an exciting FIRST Championship.
