Kids get excited about Makers Day events in Cumberland County. Story from the Daily Journal
Within seconds of entering Vineland Public Library on Saturday, Azariah Hall-Arthur said his head felt like it was going to explode.
He was amazed because he had just operated a robot that was built by students at Clearview Regional High School.
“This is so much fun! I want to create stuff! This just blew my mind already,” said Hall-Arthur, 8, of Vineland before he even entered the room full of STEM-based activities that were presented by the Make & Move Club at the Vineland Public Library during Makers Day.
He was captivated as he worked his way through the various projects ranging from building a circuit board to creating a chromatography butterfly. He learned about engineering, nutrition, surface tension and coding.
“The goal is to show kids that science can be fun. We focus on exploration and creativity,” said Joshua Barreiro, director of the Make & Move Club, a nonprofit organization in Cumberland County that promotes STEM and fitness to youth in at-risk communities.
