This student application is to collect your interest in joining the South Jersey Robotics (SJR) FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams. There is a limit of only 10 students per team, and our team locations may vary each season in the South Jersey area. SJR is committed to organizing as many teams as needed to promote science and technology in South Jersey. The FLL program will officially begin the last week of August, however, most teams usually start meeting in September. Teams have the option to meet 1-2 times per week as they approach the big Qualifier events in January/February. These events are held throughout various locations in South Jersey, including Salem Community College. Teams that advance from official Qualifiers also attend the District Championship held at Rowan College in February/March timeframe. FLL is focused in 3 areas: 1) Students will have an opportunity to build a robot using Legos and EV3 program technology. 2) Students are expected to work on a research project and present during the competition to help solution a real-word problem. 3) Lastly students are taught the FIRST Core Values to assist with team-building.
