FLL Challenge Team 18249

ThunderBots, advances to the District Championship! This SJR team competed at Moorestown Upper Elementary School on Saturday, January 21st and was presented with the Robot Performance Award for the event high score of 270 points, and the Innovation Project Award for their idea that can save squirrels and help to prevent power outages. They designed a polymer lid for electric distribution transformers that would replace the metal lid and would help to reduce power outages from animal related electrical contacts. Their design eliminates the need for add-on bushing covers that can cause other issues and are often installed improperly. Coincidentally, their idea and theme is to save the squirrels, as well as the competition, fell on National Squirrel Appreciation Day! This SJR team is a community-based team from Mullica Hill and they have advanced to the District Championship at Rowan University on Saturday February 25th. Congratulations, and Best of Luck as you advance to the Championship!
